My Background
I have been practicing psychotherapy since 1993. I opened my private practice in 2000 on a part-time schedule while also working for Anne Arundel County Public Schools. In 2006, I went to a full-time schedule in private practice.
Prior to practicing full-time in my practice, I worked in a variety of local agencies and public systems such as the Anne Arundel County Health Department as a Family and Couples Therapist, the Anne Arundel County Public Schools, as mentioned above, assessing and working with at-risk students and their families, Hope House as a Primary Therapist, Arundel Lodge as a Clinical Manager and Johns Hopkins University as a Research Assistant.
I graduated from Elon University in 1989 with a Bachelors in General Psychology, Towson University in 1995 with a Masters in Clinical Psychology and Johns Hopkins University in 2000 with a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Clinical/Community Counseling. I completed my internships at Crownsville Hospital Center working with inpatient adolescents and the Ordnance Road Correctional working with inmates and their families.
I have been married since 2002. In 2010, we adopted two beautiful children from Ethiopia, ages 3 and 5. Our lives changed overnight and it has been a joy and one of my greatest privileges to be a part of the lives of these children.
"Each man is questioned by life, and he can only answer to life by answering for his own life; to life, he can only respond by being responsible"
